Christopher J. Gembinski

Christopher J. Gembinski, Director of Technical Services, joined BCA in 1998. A graduate of the Historic Preservation program of the University of Pennsylvania School of Design, Mr. Gembinski has developed and implemented many conservation projects, including the award-winning Metropolitan Life Insurance Tower, the James A. Farley Post Office Eighth Avenue Façade Restoration, and the Grand Central Terminal Landmarks Inspection, Exterior, and Vanderbilt Hall restoration projects. Mr. Gembinski's experience includes work as a senior project manager and as an architectural conservator who has designed conservation treatments for various architectural materials, including stone, terra cotta, and brick masonry; gilding, paints and coatings; and metal and wood windows, utilizing analytical techniques such as visual microscopy, x-ray diffraction, ultrasonic testing, and Fourier transfer infrared spectroscopy.
