Section 14.09

The 14.09 review is a state level review process in New York state that is triggered when state funds are used (or state licenses or permits are required) for a property listed on the National or State Register or for one that is eligible for listing. This review process is administered by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), located in Albany.

BCA submits a package, on behalf of clients, of proposed work to the SHPO, which in turn determines the impact of the work on the historic nature of the building. BCA advises clients on work that is likely to be cited as having an adverse impact, a determination that may complicate obtaining necessary permits and funding, or delay construction efforts.
